The Department of Environment and Science announced the launch of “Sustain 2020-2022”, an integral part of “Creative Together 2020-2030: A 10-Year Roadmap for arts, culture, and creativity across Queensland”. This action plan is dedicated to reviving and transforming Queensland through focused initiatives in the arts and culture sectors over the next two years.
In light of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative is a strategic response aimed at bolstering the resilience and sustainability of the arts, culture, and creative sectors. The government has committed $22.5 million to support the recovery and advancement of these industries.
“Sustain 2020-2022” is designed to foster a rich environment for cultural growth and innovation, ensuring the arts continue to play a pivotal role in Queensland’s social and economic prosperity. The action plan outlines detailed steps to promote First Nations arts, enhance community engagement through arts, and leverage digital technologies to reach wider audiences.
The Honourable Leeanne Enoch MP, Minister for Environment and the Great Barrier Reef, Minister for Science and Minister for the Arts, stated, “Our commitment through this action plan is to nurture a creative ecosystem that supports and sustains artists, cultural workers, and creative communities across the state, reinforcing Queensland’s position as a leader in the arts sector.”
